DIY 1: How to make an ice dildo step by step
Making an ice dildo is easy to make and will provide you and your lover with hours of stimulating fun without the huge mess that ice cubes can create. Plus, you can get creative with our additional tips below. So, let’s get started.
#1 Gather your supplies

To make an ice dildo, you will need the following items:
- Cardboard tube with paper towels or wrapping paper (you can also make one with cardboard or notebook cardboard)
- Scissors
- Tape
- A condom (lubricated is fine, but not the spermicidal type as it creates a strange texture when it freezes). I used a glow-in-the-dark condom for fun!
- tap water
#2 Cut your cardboard tube and tape it to the desired width

Using scissors, cut the side of the cardboard tube lengthwise. Then, position the tube to the desired circumference and tap the cutout to close it.

#3 Place the condom inside the tube
Then, unroll the condom and place it inside the tube, leaving a few centimeters at the top. Carefully fold the top of the condom over the opening of the tube. You may have to reshape the tube a little with your hands if the condom breaks the cardboard tube.

#4 Fill the condom with water
Carefully fill the condom with water using a jug or the tap. Go slowly so as not to fill too much and cause the cardboard to get wet. The more water you add, the more the condom will stretch along its length.

#5 Place it in the freezer upright
Then, place the mold in the freezer, upright. It should take a few hours for your ice dildo to freeze, depending on your freezer and how much food is inside. My freezer had quite a bit, so it took about 4 hours for my ice dildos to freeze.

#6 Tie the condom and remove the cardboard
Once the ice dildo is frozen, remove the excess condom from the top and tie a knot, like a balloon. Then, remove the tape from the cardboard mold and take out your handmade ice dildo! I was able to get mine out without cutting the tape.

How to Create Textured Ice Dildos
When making your homemade ice dildo, it should be smooth and phallic-shaped, perfect for stimulating your body from head to toe, as well as for ice-cold vaginal penetration. But, if you want to add some extra sensation to your ice dildo, try these tips to add texture.
Do it yourself 2: use textured condoms
For this ice dildo, I used a Trojan Ultra Ribbed condom and a bottle of Kool-Aid Cooler. Simply cut the bottom of the bottle and cover the edges with masking tape. Then follow the instructions above. When you freeze it, you’ll have to hold it up, but mine turned out beautifully!

DIY 3: Use ropes, cords or pipe cleaners
For this one, I used a notebook cover and pipe cleaners (which I glued to the cardboard with a hot glue gun) and a Magnum condom. Although the photo doesn’t capture the texture, the dildo came out with deep ridges around it.

Size matters; How to make a bigger ice dildo
When having sex, it is true that size does matter. Some of us like medium sized dildos. However, when it comes to the decreased sensation that ice can provide, you may want a large dildo. So, here are some ice dildo tweaks to give you that icy monster penis you crave.
DIY 4: Soda Bottle Ice Dildos

For this big boy, I used a soda bottle. Simply cut off the bottom and turn the bottle upside down on its cap. Cover any rough edges with masking tape. Then, slowly and carefully stretch the condom over the opening; I used a Magnum condom to get more girth. Plus, it will tear less if you use a thicker condom. Then freeze the dildo for 3-4 hours.
When the dildo is frozen, tie the top and carefully use scissors or cut the bottle halfway and the dildo will come out easily.
Why make an ice dildo?
If you stumbled upon this blog post by chance, you’re probably wondering why make an ice dildo? Well, ice dildos are all about temperature play, something that many people enjoy. Temperature play involves using hot and cold elements, such as ice and hot wax, to provoke and tempt the nerve endings in our body.
“‘When temperature play is negotiated and indulged, the brain begins to prepare for a sexy, arousing experience, and puts the body’s nerve endings (erogenous zones, but also everywhere) on high alert for new sensations,’ says Dulcinea Pitagora, a sex therapist known as the Kink Doctor.”
Now that you know the reasons to make an ice dildo, let’s start with how to make an ice dildo in 6 easy steps.
Precautions when using an ice dildo
Alright, here’s mom to ruin all the fun with precautions you should keep in mind when using an ice dildo. And these are not just suggestions, they are things you should follow to avoid getting hurt while playing with sexy temperature.
- Run cold water over the ice dildo before using it.. This is extremely important so that you don’t end up with a frozen tongue injury – it will just be a nipple, a testicle or a clitoris – Ouch! If this happens, hold the ice dildo as still as possible while pouring cold water over the area. Ice and skin will come off easily.
2. Never use an ice dildo in your anus.. Sure, it’s okay to tease the outside of the anus, but placing the ice dildo inside could cause serious injury. First of all, the numbing effect of the ice will keep you from feeling pain. And since anal sex is all about relaxation and training, you could injure yourself if you can’t feel that pain. Additionally, without a wide base, an ice dildo can easily slide past the anal sphincter and be dragged up and into the colon, meaning an embarrassing trip to the emergency room.
3. Get ready to get wet. Well, this is not so much a warning suggestion as an advice. As the ice melts, the condom will become wet with condensation (plus an amazing sensation effect). And the top of the ice dildo may leak as it melts. So, prepare by laying out towels, using a waterproof mattress, dog pads, or playing in the bathtub or shower.
What does an ice dildo feel like?
So, now you’re curious about ice dildos and you may be wondering, “What does an ice dildo feel like?” And to answer that question, I recruited some testers to try out our DIY ice dildos and report their experiences.
K and her boyfriend tried the textured ice dildo and had this to say:
“Playing with the ice dildo was interesting. The first thing I noticed was how the condom was sliding back and forth on the ice as it melted, kind of like a penis. My boyfriend and I were teasing each other from head to toe. But the best part was when my boyfriend used the ice dildo on me and alternated with his penis. That was amazing!”
Jay and his wife used the glow-in-the-dark ice dildo and here’s what he had to say about their wild night:
“I blindfolded Nikki and tied her to the bed. I used the ice dildo starting at her neck and running down her body. I teased her nipples, her belly, that little dent on the inside of her thighs, her legs, and her toes. She moved and squirmed but she was going crazy. I rubbed her clit with the dildo, then slid it in and out while giving her oral. She was begging me! let it enter inside her!
It got a little wet and a little dirty, but we had towels so it wasn’t a big deal. “The humidity just added to the excitement factor.”
The same feeling can be recreated by metal dildos.
