“My Little Trans Joys,” a comic by Jey Pawlik, is done in cool textured colors with light blues, light pinks, and light gray and white to match the trans flag. Jey is a non-binary person with a chubby build with short hair and some gray hair, wears large, thick square glasses and comfortable, casual clothing.

Four panels at the top of the page are light blue with blue lines and show Jey’s small mustache, upper surgery scars, Jey’s voice coming down through a speech bubble, and Jey as a whole.

Narration in four panels: My little trans joys

We see a Discord-type chat screen where some friends celebrate with emojis and gifs.
Cool Guy: Happy Pride 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🎉
Da Crow: Happy birthday queer people!!!

Funky Bunny adds a gif with a bunch of pride flags that says: Shine! It’s Pride month, don’t forget to be yourself.
Jey: Is it June already? AH!!!!! Happy Pride everyone!
Jey sits at his desk and says, “Every time Pride month comes around…

We zoom out to see Jey meditating in just his shorts, we can see his hairy body and the scars from his top surgery as he puts his hands on his chest. The trans flag, the non-binary flag and a rainbow float around them.
Narration: I think about where I am on my journey to being myself. I came out as non-binary when I was 25 in 2015 and I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.

Four panels at the top of the page are light pink with pink lines and show Jey shirtless and floating in a body of water, Jey’s small stringy beard, Jey with other trans friends, a waiter saying “what can I get you guys?” with emphasis on “people.”
Narration in the four panels: I’m keeping them all

In a shade of pink to match the little cheer panels, Jey and Max are in their bedroom getting ready. Max says, “Then we’ll take the subway and arrive at the Trans March just before 7 pm.” Max stops to look at Jey’s belly before a shirt is put on him, Max smiles happily.
Jey raises an eyebrow and asks “Heh, what’s up?” while they finish putting on their shirt.

Max takes Jey’s hands in xer’s and says, “I think your body looks great. You’re so handsome and I love your belly!” while the sparkles float around them.

Close-up of Jey blushing deeply as their mouths curl into a billowing smile.

The scene changes to gray and white to match the white of the trans flag, as Jey and Max encounter a group. Two friends talk and say, “Jey is also a comic book artist and they work as a teacher in the fall. Oh, talk about the devil!” as the two watch Max and Jey arrive excitedly.

When the group gathers, a friend begins to make introductions and says, “This is my friend who will be marching with us tonight!” and gestures to the other person in the group.
She goes on to say “Nice to meet you! I use she/her pronouns.”
Max says “Hi, I’m Max, I prefer xe/xem.”
Jey chimes in with “And I’m Jey, I use them!”
The new friend asks, “Right, you spell it with an ‘E’? That’s great!”
Jey replies “God, thank you!”

Four panels in the middle of the page are light gray and white with gray lines, and show a name tag that says “Jey”, Jey with a wallet on his chest and a shirt with the word “FLAT” written on it, Jey’s hand as they hold his pen with dark hair on his arm and knuckles,
Four-panel narration: close to my heart

After the four gray panels, the page changes to full color and shows Jey, Max and their two friends as they march through a crowd holding their large trans flag behind them. The crowd behind them held signs that read “Protect trans children” and “Trans rights are human rights!” and “Moms 4 trans children”

I look at a crowd of people cheering on the sidewalk and not at the march, these people are also holding signs and smiling. The signs read “Proud to call you family,” “trans rights” and “I see you, I’m with you.”

Jey starts to cry and wipes a tear from her face. Max leans in and asks, “Hey, are you okay?”
Jey replies, “Yeah, I just…feeling a little excited!”

The group continues marching through the large crowd. They talk and say, “Oh, we did it! This looks like the end of the march.” and “Wow, look at that huge flag over there!” They point to a large trans flag at the end of the march. Someone in the group asks: “Do you want to take a photo in front of him?” and everyone shouts “Let’s do it!”

The four friends take a selfie together in front of the giant trans flag, all smiling and happy for the camera.

Four panels at the bottom of the page are light pink with pink lines, showing Jey’s chubby, hairy belly, a government form with the heading “gender” and the options for M, F, and
Four-panel narration: and I’m proud

The four friends stand in front of the large trans flag as the colors explode. Jey says “Wait!” when a small blue panel appears in front of them.

Jey runs to the bottom of the page and says “I’ll be right back!” holding the blue panel close.
They put it at the bottom of the page with three other light blue panels and say “I have to add this to…”

Four panels at the bottom of the page are light blue with blue lines and show a drop-down menu with options for: Mr. Mrs. Mr. And the Dr. with Mx. Being highlighted, Jey nibbles correcting someone who said “She…” but the nibbler says louder “THEM!” and Jey crying in the background, an older woman hugging Jey and they’re both crying, the last little trans joy being the selfie the group of friends just took. Jey happily slides the panel into place with the colors of the trans flag swirling around it.
