You may have heard the rumors circulating about the closure of sex toy brand Lora Dicarlo. Or, you may have recently bought them a toy, only for it to never materialize. So what exactly is the situation?

As sex toy experts who know Lora Dicarlo very well, we were surprised when we were recently alerted that her products and services no longer appeared to be available. And, of course, we had to investigate.

Information about the brand is quite scarce at the moment, leaving many customers very confused and, understandably, upset. Questions have been popping up on the Internet from people looking for answers, including this reddit post:

In this article, we will answer all the most frequently asked questions on this topic, including:

What happened to Lora Dicarlo?

Without an official statement from any Lora Dicarlo representative, including Lora Haddock Dicarlo herself, we cannot be 100% sure what has happened to the brand.

However, there is plenty of evidence that it has closed or is in the process of closing. Their website, loradicarlo.com, is no longer online and inaccessible, and their products are sold out almost everywhere. online sex toy stores.

Lora Dicarlo’s official social media profiles are silent, except your twitter pagewhich continues to publish automated tweets of reviews left by users. Many users have left comments on their old posts, complaining that their orders, some placed more than a month ago, remain unfulfilled and their customer service team is unavailable.

However, when you start digging behind the scenes, some telling evidence comes to light.

Here is the timeline as we know it:

  • July 29, 2022 — Sex toy brand Lora Dicarlo disconnects from ShareASale for 11 days due to lack of funds. ShareASale is the platform that Lora Dicarlo and many other sex toy brands use to track and pay commissions to their affiliate partners, like Bedbible. It is not uncommon for this to happen to many brands, although it is usually for a much shorter time.
  • October 12 – Lora Dicarlo posts a promotion for her Halloween sale on her Twitter and Facebook pages, which is her latest (non-automatic) social media update.
  • October 17 — Gisele International, a sexual wellness sales and marketing agency, ends its relationship with Lora Dicarlo after the brand goes silent.
  • October 22 – They go offline again on ShareASale and this time it stays that way.
  • October 28 – A now former executive employee of Lora Dicarlo sent an automated email. Among other things, it explains that “there is no longer an internal resource available to continue the partnerships as planned.”
  • November 2 — Loradicarlo.com goes offline and an error message appears when you try to visit it. Different browsers show different error messages, but it is not available for everyone.

November 4 — Emails sent to the loradicarlo.com domain begin bouncing back and forth between senders and calls to company phone numbers are sent to voicemail.

November 7 – An email is circulating from a senior advisor to Lora Dicarlo stating that he believed the company would declare bankruptcy “imminently.”

So, has Lora Dicarlo gone bankrupt?

As of November 29, 2022, at the time of writing, Lora Dicarlo has not officially bankrupt yet.

We contacted an attorney, Jeff Fucci, who specializes in this area of law. He was able to examine the court records and provided us with this information:

Because “Lora Dicarlo” and “Uccellini Inc.” There are two different search terms, an individual and an entity. I conducted two searches on PACER, the federal court records locator. This is where bankruptcy actions come in. No search returned affirmative results.

Jeff Fucci, Esq.

Below you can see the results of the searches you performed, which show that no bankruptcy petitions have been filed for either Lora Dicarlo or Uccellini Inc.

Despite this, it still appears that the company will cease operations. If you search on LinkedIn, you can see that many of Lora Dicarlo’s former employees report that they stopped working there in October 2022.

One of these employees is former Lora Dicarlo CFO Jason Moyer. We can see that he has already updated his LinkedIn profile to show his new role as CFO at a new company, starting in October 2022.

For such a senior member of staff to leave the company at this time indicates that this is more than just mass layoffs of younger employees.

Why did Lora Dicarlo close?

We can only speculate as to why this happened to Lora Dicarlo, especially since they themselves have yet to release a statement.

For some it may be extremely surprising that a brand like Lora Dicarlo can fail in this way. After all, they’ve had a lot of press and hype around them from the beginning.

Lora Dicarlo’s first product was the Osé 2, a double stimulation vibrator that had both a g spot caresser and a clitoral sucking stimulator. The toy was hailed by many as innovative, as it used “microrobotic” technology to offer very realistic and pleasurable sensations.

Its popularity increased further when it received an infamous robotics innovation award at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2018, only to rescind it a month later, stating that the product was “profane,” “immoral,” and “obscene.” The following year, however, they changed their minds (and policies) and reinstated the award.

Lora Dicarlo’s newest products continued this trend of innovation and hype, which resulted in very high expectations from consumers. Unfortunately, however, the toys weren’t always up to par and many ended up with negative reviews from disappointed users.

On product review site Product Hunt, the Lora Dicarlo Osé 2 has an average score of 2.2 out of 5, based on 48 reviews.

At Bedbible, our reviewers have had very mixed experiences with Lora Dicarlo products. For example, Baci and Sway really impressed their testers, while Filare and Carezza were a real disappointment.

However, perhaps the biggest flaw of Lora Dicarlo’s products was the price. Sex toys are known for being expensive purchases, but many of Lora Dicarlo’s offerings were extremely expensive, even by industry standards.

Of course, price will always be a very subjective issue. Still, many consumers and critics wondered why the toys cost so much, especially when many of their features and results didn’t match what the company promised.

Lora Dicarlo’s financial debacle

Aside from her current issues and the incident at CES, Lora Dicarlo also made headlines for something else.

In April 2021, Lora Dicarlo launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on a platform called Republic. It was widely publicized, especially with the addition of famous angel investor Cara Delevingne, and raised $1.7 million from 3,339 investors.

So, it came as a surprise to many when Republic withdrew the campaign in mid-November of the same year. All investments were refunded and the funds that Lora Dicarlo put into the campaign were lost.

Ultimately, the campaign was withdrawn because Lora Dicarlo presented new information about an executive who left the company and privately sold his equity to a new shareholder, jeopardizing the fundraising campaign.

Shortly after, Lora Dicarlo opened a more traditional Series A, with accredited investors. This was the last record fundraising for the company.

Did you buy a Lora Dicarlo toy? How to get your money back

Since Lora Dicarlo has not officially filed for bankruptcy at this time, unfortunately we are unable to provide any concrete guidance on how to request a refund for any unfulfilled orders.

It is unlikely that you will be able to resolve the issue by contacting Lora Dicarlo themselves, as the company does not appear to be reachable by email or phone.

However, it is possible for you to request access to company files yourself.

You will first need to create an account on PACEMAKER (Public access to electronic court records). Then go to this page to access Delaware court filings. The company behind Lora Dicarlo, Uccellini Inc., was founded here.

Register as a “Plaintiff, Defendant, or Debtor in a Case,” as shown below.

Doing this will allow you to access information about when Lora Dicarlo, or Uccellini Inc., will hold their “Meeting of Creditors.” At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to personally interact with Lora Dicarlo to learn the details of your presentation and raise any objections.

While the public is welcome to attend this meeting, no invitations or publications are sent. That is, you will have to actively inform yourself and join. Due to the nature of a bankruptcy filing, you will not be a debtor and therefore entitled to a refund, unless you actively report that you are.

Submit a proof of claim

You can also complete a ‘Proof of Claim’, called Model 410. This is a three-page document that typically must be completed and signed by the creditor, the creditor’s attorney, or an authorized agent. The information you will need to provide includes:

  • The amount of the claim
  • The basis of the claim
  • If the debt is secured by a lien
  • The last four digits of the debtor’s account, if applicable
  • Your address for notifications and possible payments

Along with the form, you should include copies of any documents that support your claim, such as purchase orders, promissory notes, invoices, statements, mortgages, and contracts.

In addition to mailing the form to the appropriate district court, creditors can also file electronically, either through the court’s website or through a third-party bankruptcy claims agent. If you want to confirm that your proof of claim has been filed, you can include a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with a copy of the form in your mailing, or you can visit the court’s PACER system to view the filed form online.

Official instructions on how to do this are available here.

About Lora Dicarlo

Lora Dicarlo was founded by its namesake and CEO, Lora Haddock DiCarlo, in 2017. The idea behind the company was to use cutting-edge technology to create sex toys that felt incredibly realistic and pleasurable.

They collaborated with the Oregon State University Robotics and Engineering Laboratory to create the Osé for the first time, a kind of rabbit vibrator that mimicked human touch using microrobotics and other patent-pending technologies. They then created a wide range of equally advanced toys for people of all genders to use.
