what is the Velora Dune?
Canadian sex toy retailer Velora’s Place asked me to review their dune vibratorwhich is shaped like the top half of a banana. It is designed to stimulate the clitoris or other external erogenous zones. It is rechargeable and made of silicone and ABS plastic.
Things I like about Velora Dune:
- Versatile and unusual shape: When it comes to external/clitoral vibrators like this, I always appreciate a shape that feels different depending on how you angle it, as this gives more sensation options and makes the toy more versatile. The “business end” of this toy, shaped like a banana stem, works well for this; I can place it next to my clit for broader stimulation, for example, or hold just the tip against my clit for a more precise sensation.
- Whimsical aesthetic: A banana is a cute shape for a sex toy, and I know that some users (especially those with minimal or no sex toy experience) find it less intimidating to use toys that have a playful appearance like this. It’s also unusual to see a bright yellow vibrator; I appreciate the big aesthetic change that took place here.
- Convenient charging base: I like the way the Dune charges: it comes with a small charging dock that you can power with a USB-C cable, making it convenient for travel if, like me, you always have a USB-C cable on hand for other electronic devices. The base doesn’t take up much space on a nightstand and charges the Dune relatively quickly: you get up to 2 hours of use from a 90-minute charge.
- Relatively quiet: While it’s definitely audible, the Dune maxes out at around 45 decibels, which is louder than a refrigerator but quieter than moderate rain.
- Price: The Dune is currently priced at $29, which I think is a fair price. That’s also unusually cheap for a rechargeable vibrator (as opposed to one that runs on disposable batteries).

Things that I of which as about him Velora Dune:
- Extremely lively: Unfortunately, the Dune’s engine… The most important aspect of any vibrator. – makes a tremendous humming noise, meaning its vibrations are sharp, shallow, and likely to cause temporary numbness and discomfort. Many people, including myself emphatically, prefer vibrations that are boomy, that is, low in pitch and therefore better able to stimulate the tissues deeply without causing numbness, and there really isn’t any noise to be found here; everything is bustle, all the time. I couldn’t reach orgasm with Dune in any of my test sessions because it made me drowsy too quickly to get there in time.
- Only 3 constant speeds: The Dune’s single button cycles through 3 constant speeds followed by 7 patterns. According to informal surveys I’ve done over the years, most vibrator users, myself included, tend to follow constant speeds rather than patterns, so there should always be more than 3 speeds available; otherwise the jumps between them seem too intense. The Dune also starts at a level of vibration that I find too intense at most points in my arousal cycle, so I usually have to be extremely aroused before I start using it, or else it will be too jarring and uncomfortable.
- The vibration is transmitted to the handle: My fingers start to feel strange within seconds of using the Dune, because much of its ultra-fast vibration is conducted to the part of the toy you’re holding on to. This could make it painful or challenging for people with sore/weak hands to use.
- Apparently it is not completely waterproof: The Dune is “waterproof,” which, speaking of sex toys, generally means you can safely wash it in the sink, but you shouldn’t submerge it in water or use it in a bathtub.
Final thoughts
I wanted to like the adorable look. dune vibratorbut unfortunately there is too much noise to enjoy it. I kept having to reach bigger, rumbling vibrations finish the job, and even then it was often not as pleasurable as it normally would have been, because the vibrations had temporarily reduced my sensitivity, as they often do.
But I can’t deny that Dune It’s a cute, affordable vibrator with a versatile shape and a fantastic charging mechanism. I’m sure some people would enjoy it, but I’m not one of them. This little banana just didn’t quite look like itpeel for me I guess 😉
